[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] The Jeonnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association (President Kim Jeong-o, Chairman of Damyang County Council) announced on the 29th that it held the "257th Jeonnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association Monthly Meeting" on the 26th at the Seungdal Culture and Arts Center in Muan County.
The "Jeonnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association Monthly Meeting" is a regular meeting held every month to seek ways for regional mutual development and to strengthen the cooperation system on current issues and common interests among councils.
Hosted by the Muan County Council (Chairman Kim Dae-hyun), this monthly meeting was attended by about 40 people, including chairpersons of 20 city and county councils in the Jeonnam region, members of the Muan County Council, Muan County Mayor Kim San, and association officials.
The meeting proceeded in the order of the opening address by Association President Kim Jeong-o, a welcome speech by Muan County Council Chairman Kim Dae-hyun, congratulatory remarks by Muan County Mayor Kim San, agenda review, and discussion.
Following the opening ceremony, at the awards ceremony, the association presented the Legislative Service Award to Park Mak-dong, Vice Chairman of the Muan County Council, for his contribution to the development of local councils through productive legislative activities, and presented a plaque of appreciation to Muan County Mayor Kim San for his contribution to building a cooperative relationship between local councils and executive agencies.
In the subsequent main session, a "Resolution Urging the Enactment of a Special Act to Support Areas at Risk of Local Extinction" was adopted as a fundamental measure for national balanced development. Major issues such as rent reduction measures for small business owners in response to COVID-19 and the enactment of the Local Council Act were also discussed.
Kim Dae-hyun, Chairman of the Muan County Council, who hosted the monthly meeting, said, "With the advent of the Local Autonomy 2.0 era, residents have high expectations for local councils," adding, "Let us continue to prepare substantial follow-up measures in accordance with the full revision of the Local Autonomy Act so that our local councils can mature and develop as representative institutions."
