[Profile] Lee Ho-seung, Chief of Policy Office at the Blue House
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Lee Ho-seung, the new Chief of the Blue House Policy Office, was born in 1965 and graduated from Gwangju Dongsin High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Economics. He holds a master's degree in Economics from Chung-Ang University and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia, USA.
He is a career bureaucrat who passed the 32nd Administrative Examination. He has held key positions in the Ministry of Economy and Finance, including First Vice Minister, Director General of Economic Policy Bureau, and Director General of Policy Coordination Bureau, and served as a Senior Advisor at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He also served as Secretary for Job Planning and Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Presidential Secretariat. Lee Ho-seung will take charge as the Blue House policy commander responsible for concluding President Moon Jae-in's term.
In his inaugural remarks, Chief Lee stated that he would focus on "three policy tasks facing the Republic of Korea." These include ▲ overcoming the COVID-19 crisis and early restoration of daily life ▲ advancing as a leading country amid changes in technology and the international order ▲ alleviating inequality and strengthening social safety nets and investment in people.
