SK General Chemical and Aekyung Industrial Join Hands to Create an Eco-Friendly Plastic Ecosystem

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Aekyung Industrial and SK General Chemical, a subsidiary of SK Innovation, have joined forces to create an eco-friendly plastic ecosystem.
On the 29th, Aekyung Industrial and SK General Chemical announced that they signed a business agreement aimed at establishing a circular system for eco-friendly plastics at the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by Jaeyoung Lim, CEO of Aekyung Industrial, and Kyungsoo Na, President of SK General Chemical.
Aekyung Industrial stated, "Through this business agreement with SK General Chemical, which possesses eco-friendly plastic production technology, we expect to build a circular system for eco-friendly plastics and create synergy. Aekyung Industrial recognizes the seriousness of plastic issues and will continue to strive to develop sustainable packaging and environmentally considerate products."
According to the agreement, the two companies plan to collaborate in areas such as ▲ standardizing packaging materials for household goods and cosmetics to single materials for easier recycling of waste plastics ▲ developing white and transparent packaging ▲ campaigns for collecting and recycling plastic containers.
Since 2019, SK General Chemical has been facilitating gatherings of packaging manufacturers and industries such as food, distribution, and logistics to establish ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices in the packaging industry and discuss collaborative measures to reduce packaging waste. In particular, SK General Chemical has been advancing the establishment of a circular system for waste plastics through eco-friendly packaging development and expansion of pyrolysis oil business, and it is expected to accelerate the creation of an eco-friendly plastic ecosystem through cooperation with the distribution industry.
