From the 15th to the 26th, citizen expert auditors with extensive expertise and practical experience in civil engineering and architecture participated in focused safety inspections of more than 20 major construction sites. A special inspection team composed of a technical audit team was formed to conduct on-site inspections.
In particular, the team visited large construction sites with a high risk of safety accidents where many workers reside, checking the original ground subsidence, cut slope conditions, earth retaining walls, drainage facility construction status, and safety facilities directly related to workers' lives such as props and scaffolding. Technical experts including professional auditors carefully examined structural cracks and deformations.
During the on-site inspections, any urgent safety issues were immediately guided for improvement. For major pointed issues, corrective and supplementary measures will be taken, and systematic and effective safety management plans will be established for each site to prevent recurrence.
Additionally, explanations about the operation of the ‘Public Official Corruption Anonymous Reporting System’ to eradicate preemptive corruption factors such as abuse of power and unfair demands by public officials related to construction sites were provided to construction stakeholders, and guidance was given to promote it frequently during worker safety education.
