4 New Confirmed Cases Reported in Gwangju...Total 2,201 Cases
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Four COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Gwangju Metropolitan City.
According to Gwangju City on the 26th, as of 2 p.m. that day, four people were confirmed positive and classified as Gwangju cases 2198 to 2201.
The infection routes of Gwangju cases 2198 and 2201 have not been identified.
Gwangju case 2199 was infected by Gwangju case 2198, who was confirmed positive on the same day.
Gwangju case 2200 is related to a coin karaoke practice room located in Dong-gu, where consecutive confirmed cases have recently occurred in the area.
Since the index patient, Gwangju case 2187, was confirmed positive on the 22nd, 15 additional cases were identified through contact tracing related to the coin karaoke practice room.
Among them, 10 directly visited the facility, and 5 are secondary infections.
The quarantine authorities conducted an on-site evaluation at the coin karaoke practice room the day before.
As a result, it was revealed that the facility owner was properly following quarantine guidelines.
However, the quarantine authorities explained that since there were no closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) installed inside individual rooms, it was difficult to determine whether users were wearing masks while singing.
A quarantine official urged that because karaoke rooms are small spaces for singing, not only the facility owner but also customers must strictly adhere to quarantine rules on their own.
Meanwhile, in the Gwangju area, the current social distancing level 1.5, which is set to end on the 28th, will be extended for two weeks starting the following day.
