"South Korea Scores 2 out of 10 in Cybersecurity"
Park Young-sun, CEO of Dudu IT, Develops Cybersecurity Training System Supplied to Military and Agencies
CyberAegis Trained Over 500 Cybersecurity Experts Last Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] "South Korea's cyber security score is 2 out of 10, which is a failing level."
On the 29th, at the headquarters of Dudu IT in Gasan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, CEO Park Young-sun (photo) told Asia Economy, "The cyber security capability of a society cannot be evaluated solely by the expertise of professionals," adding, "A society with a higher awareness of cyber security among its members can be considered to have stronger cyber security capabilities."
The country with the world's best cyber security capabilities is Israel. Among the global top three cyber security companies?Cympire, Cyberbit, and Simspace?both Cympire and Simspace are Israeli companies, demonstrating Israel's strong defense against cyber attacks such as hacking.
According to CEO Park, South Korea actually has professionals with capabilities superior to Israel’s and cyber technology that is by no means inferior, but the cyber security awareness among its social members is low. She pointed out, "Education to raise awareness about cyber security, including hacking, should start from elementary school," diagnosing that "while people freely use PCs and smartphones daily, they are hardly conscious of security."
Therefore, systematic education and training on cyber security are necessary. Dudu IT has developed the 'Cyber Intrusion Response Training System,' a training program to cultivate cyber security experts, and supplies it to the military, public institutions, and universities.
Launched in 2019, 'CyberEgis,' Korea’s first cyber security simulation training system, caused a stir in the market. It virtualizes 2,000 PCs within a single server and allows simulation training in various scenarios such as suffering direct damage from hacking, defending against attacks, and evading them, thereby nurturing experts. Through CyberEgis alone, over 500 experts were trained and produced last year.
CEO Park emphasized the necessity of experiential learning despite it being virtual, saying, "The domestic cyber environment is such that attacks can happen anytime and anywhere, but except for the financial sector, private companies have a low level of cyber security awareness. Experiencing direct damage through simulation training makes people realize the seriousness and feel the need not only for systems but also for experts."
CyberEgis received the 'GS Certification (Grade 1)' in 2019, which is equivalent to the KS certification in the software industry. Moreover, as COVID-19 spread, it became a favored platform at major domestic and international universities such as Incheon National University, Cheongju University, and Hanoi University in Vietnam. For ICT-related departments, CyberEgis enabled practical training that was impossible via Zoom during remote classes.
Since 2017, Dudu IT has received over 1.2 billion KRW in research and development (R&D) funding from the Small and Medium Business Technology Information Promotion Agency and recorded sales of 4.2 billion KRW in 2019. Although sales dropped to 2.6 billion KRW last year due to budget cuts at major institutions and universities amid COVID-19, this year’s sales are expected to exceed 5 billion KRW.
Dudu IT has registered two patents: 'Virtualization-based Training Content Provision System' and 'Cyber Security Simulation Training Content Provision Method and Device,' holding an 80% domestic market share and a dominant position. With its solid technological capabilities recognized in the global market, global market dominance is imminent.

CEO Park expressed optimism, saying, "The market outlook is limitless. Although private companies have not yet fully recognized the seriousness of cyber security, and orders are mainly from the military, public institutions, and universities, a turning point will come soon, and then demand will surge like a flood."
