Gwangju City Appoints Hong Seok-won as Permanent Conductor of Municipal Symphony Orchestra
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] On the 25th, Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, presented a letter of appointment to Conductor Hong Seok-won (39), who was appointed as the permanent conductor of the Municipal Symphony Orchestra.
Conductor Hong graduated from the Composition Department of Seoul National University College of Music and completed the diploma and master performer courses in conducting at the Hans Eisler Berlin University of Music in Germany.
He has been actively working domestically as a guest conductor for the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, and Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, and served as a conductor at the Tirol State Theatre in Austria from 2015 to 2020.
The term of office is two years, from April 1 to March 31, 2023.
Conductor Hong was evaluated by the recruitment committee as possessing the necessary capabilities and qualities as a conductor and having the leadership to smoothly manage the symphony orchestra.
