Fishing Boat Capsizes Off Sokcho Coast... 1 Dead, 1 Injured
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] A fishing boat capsized off the coast of Sokcho, Gangwon Province.
According to Sokcho Coast Guard on the 25th, at around 3:53 a.m., a 2.99-ton gillnet fishing boat capsized near the northern breakwater of Sokcho Port.
As a result of the accident, a man in his 60s on board died, and his wife in her 50s was injured.
The Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels and coastal rescue boats to the accident site and rescued the husband, Mr. A, around 4:20 a.m., transporting him to the hospital, but Mr. A passed away.
The wife, Ms. B, was rescued earlier around 4 a.m. by a passing vessel nearby and is reported to be in stable condition.
