KT Establishes AI·DX Curriculum at KAIST... Partners with Woori Financial and Kyobo Life Insurance
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] KT announced on the 25th that it will open the ‘Finance-IT Convergence AI·DX Industry-Academia Program’ at the Graduate School of Management, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), in collaboration with Woori Financial Group and Kyobo Life Insurance.
This is a collaborative project aimed at nurturing experts in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DX). KT and Woori Financial Group have been collaborating for digital financial innovation since launching the ‘KT-Woori Financial Group AI·Data Analysis Program’ in October last year, and this year Kyobo Life Insurance Group has also joined the effort.
The program, which will be launched on April 16 at the KAIST Graduate School of Management, will involve a total of 45 participants from KT Group, Woori Financial Group, and Kyobo Life Insurance Group. The 13-week curriculum will cover topics such as ▲Digital Transformation ▲Big Data Analysis ▲AI Theory and Technology ▲AI Business Utilization Strategies. The program will be led by KAIST business school faculty along with top professors from AI graduate programs and industrial engineering departments in Korea.
Additionally, practical leaders from the three groups will work on projects to discover business models for AI·DX innovation and solve tasks using KT’s AI practice platform ‘AIDU’.
Jinyoungshim, KT’s Head of Talent Development Office (Executive Director), said, “Finance and IT are the most important industrial sectors in the AI era. Through this industry-academia education program, we expect not only to enhance understanding of finance and information and communication technology but also to maximize synergy through industry convergence.”

Meanwhile, KT and KAIST formed the AI One Team in February 2020. The AI One Team is a collaborative body formed by leading domestic industry-academia-research entities. Currently, the AI One Team includes companies such as KT, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, LG Electronics, LG Uplus, Korea Investment & Securities, Dongwon Group, and institutions such as KAIST, Hanyang University, and Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).
