[Public Officials' Asset Disclosure] Average 2.04 Billion KRW for Senior Legal and Prosecutorial Executives... Former Prosecutor General Yoon's 6.9 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The average assets of senior officials in the Ministry of Justice and the prosecution were calculated at 2,041.29 million KRW. This figure includes the assets of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, amounting to 6,997.8 million KRW, reported as of December 31 last year.
According to the '2021 Regular Asset Changes of Public Officials' disclosed by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee on the 25th, the average assets of senior officials in the Ministry of Justice and prosecution stand at 2,041.29 million KRW.
The most notable point is the assets of former Prosecutor General Yoon. The statistics were compiled as of the end of last year, including him in the target group. Yoon's assets increased by about 220 million KRW compared to the 6,683.88 million KRW reported last year.
Of this, a total of 5,345.47 million KRW is in deposits, with Yoon's personal deposits increasing by 4.8 million KRW from last year to 220.3 million KRW. The remaining 5,125.17 million KRW is under the name of his wife, Kim Geon-hee.
Additionally, the declared value of the mixed-use building in Seocho-dong, Seoul, owned by his wife, was 1,305 million KRW, an increase of 105 million KRW from the 1,200 million KRW reported last year. The land value in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, owned by his wife, also changed from 236.75 million KRW to 259.31 million KRW.
Among the Ministry of Justice personnel, former Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae was excluded from this statistic due to retirement, and Vice Minister Lee Yong-gu was excluded as he was newly appointed and subject to ad hoc asset disclosure.
No Jeong-yeon, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, had the second-highest assets after former Prosecutor General Yoon, with 5,539.64 million KRW. This is an increase of about 180 million KRW from the 5,357.69 million KRW reported last year.
Cho Nam-gwan, Acting Prosecutor General, reported assets of 1,631.15 million KRW. He declared an apartment in Gangnam-gu (1,289.99 million KRW) owned by himself and his spouse, and deposits amounting to 310.52 million KRW.
Lee Seong-yoon, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, reported 1,195.27 million KRW, an increase of 17 million KRW from last year. Deposits under his and his spouse's names totaled 805.24 million KRW, of which his personal deposits were 88.42 million KRW. His apartment in Gangdong-gu was assessed at 373 million KRW, reflecting the official land price.

Additionally, Han Dong-hoon, Research Fellow at the Legal Research and Training Institute, reported 3,785.91 million KRW; Han Dong-soo, Head of the Inspection Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, reported 1,772.65 million KRW; Shim Jae-cheol, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, reported 194.28 million KRW; and Cha Gyu-geun, Head of the Immigration and Foreign Policy Headquarters, reported 1,272.29 million KRW.
