Seongbuk District Art Museum 2021 First Planned Exhibition 'Sound of the Land: Kim Seungyoung' Exhibition Held
Solo Exhibition of Artist Kim Seung-young, Who Has Continued Reflection on Human Existence Through Installation Art for Over 30 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu Art Museum (Director Kim Bora) will hold the first planned exhibition of 2021, "Sound of the Land: Kim Seungyoung".
This exhibition is a solo show of artist Kim Seungyoung, who has been reflecting on human existence through installation and media art for over 30 years, introducing a total of five works including four new media installations and one object.
The "Sound of the Land: Kim Seungyoung" exhibition is created as an installation artwork and space that encompasses and stimulates various senses such as fire, water, light, sound, and scent, which is expected to greatly arouse visitors' curiosity, according to a representative of Seongbuk-gu Art Museum.
Artist Kim Seungyoung also expressed his hope to provide an opportunity to discover the true meaning of art through the process of understanding and communicating with each other while experiencing the works.
The exhibition period for "Sound of the Land: Kim Seungyoung" is from the 25th of this month to June 27. Seongbuk-gu Art Museum announced that it limits the number of visitors to five per hour to minimize contact between people and provide a time and space where visitors can fully immerse themselves in the artworks.

Kim Seungyoung was born in Seoul in 1963 and graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Hongik University and its graduate school. Since 1996, he has held solo exhibitions at major domestic and international museums and galleries, and in 2019, he was invited to a special exhibition at the National Museum of Korea, the first time for a contemporary artist.
He has also actively participated in major domestic and international projects and planned exhibitions such as the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Korean Cultural Center in Sydney (Australia).

His major awards include the Excellence Award at the Moran Sculpture Grand Prize Exhibition (1997), the Grand Prize at the Dong-A Art Festival (1998), and the 6th Jeon Hyukrim Art Award (2021).
