At the Gadeok New Airport Technical Advisory Group public hearing held that day, Chairman Lee said, "It is false for the forces that caused the airport to be scrapped and brought a crisis to Busan to talk about Busan's future." He added, "The Democratic Party's candidate Kim Young-choon is a person with ample experience in the National Assembly and government," and said, "We believe he will push forward the construction schedule of Gadeok New Airport as much as possible within the Moon Jae-in administration's term and revive the Busan regional economy from the ground up."
He also conveyed his intention to initiate the basic plan for Gadeok New Airport within the Moon Jae-in administration's term. Chairman Lee mentioned, "The special law for Gadeok New Airport was passed on February 26. We are now in the stage of follow-up processing, aiming for construction to start in 2024 and completion in 2029."
