View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Choyoung] Park Young-sun, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Seoul mayor, criticized on the 24th the allegations of "self-compensation" involving candidate Oh's family in Naegok-dong, saying, "The way former President MB (Lee Myung-bak) distorted the truth about the BBK issue and consistently lied is very similar to the way candidate Oh Se-hoon handled the Naegok-dong land issue."
On the morning of the 24th, Park appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "Candidate Oh is practically known as MB's crown prince," adding, "He actively supported the Four Major Rivers Project and, while managing Seoul's administration, was involved in all matters related to the Lee Myung-bak administration's actual measurements."
Regarding Oh's explanation that he was unaware of the Naegok-dong development, Park pointed out, "As someone who has served as a minister, this is a lie," and explained, "According to the current enforcement decree, the decision to lift the Green Belt requires the approval of the Seoul mayor. If it was approved only by the director, this violates current law."
Park continued, "According to the transcript of the Seoul City Council, the director appeared at the National Assembly audit and said, 'I reported to the mayor, but the mayor said certain parts were inappropriate and asked for changes,' which is recorded in the transcript," emphasizing the point.
She further stated, "Did candidate Oh receive compensation? It was self-compensation. The amount was higher compared to the market price at the time. Therefore, this constitutes a conflict of interest," adding, "A conflict of interest is a very serious issue for a public official. In a way, the Naegok-dong issue is the precursor to the current LH scandal."
