Solving Guro-gu Local Issues Together with Residents
‘Public-Private Cooperation Project Agenda Call’... Submissions accepted until April 9 via Guro District Office website ‘Guro1beonga’ and district office... Proposals welcome for projects addressing local issues through public-private collaboration or requiring broad resident consensus
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] “Looking for great ideas for regional development!”
Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is conducting an idea contest to solve local problems together with residents.
On the 24th, Guro-gu announced, “To provide residents with opportunities to participate in district administration and to reflect diverse opinions in policies, we are conducting the ‘2022 Public-Private Cooperation Project Agenda Contest’ until the 9th of next month.”
The contest targets areas closely related to residents' lives such as education, culture, environment, safety, transportation, and jobs, seeking ways for residents and the district office to solve local problems together, or projects requiring the collection of opinions from many residents. However, simple civil complaints, facility installations, and petitions or grievances are excluded.
Any resident of Guro-gu can participate in this contest.
Those wishing to participate can submit proposals through the district office website, Google Forms survey, or the district office’s Cooperation Policy Advisor Office. Participation by mail or fax is also possible.
Guro-gu plans to select the ‘cooperation agenda’ through procedures including department review in April, public forums between residents and responsible departments in May, and resident voting in June. The cooperation agenda will be reflected in the ‘2022 Community Innovation Plan’ and promoted next year.
A Guro-gu official said, “We expect that this public-private cooperation agenda contest will add democratic values to district administration,” and added, “We ask for much interest and participation in this contest, which allows residents themselves to create a better Guro.”
