"Why Isn't Jomin's Admission Canceled?" Angry Busan National University Students
Busan National University Reports Investigation Plan on Jomin's Admission Allegations... Ministry of Education "Will Announce Position This Week"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Pusan National University is facing backlash from students for not disclosing the measures taken regarding Cho Min, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, who is under suspicion of fraudulent admission to the medical school, despite having reported the actions to the Ministry of Education.
On the 23rd, posts appeared one after another on the Pusan National University student community, such as "Why hasn't the admission been canceled even though the evidence was accepted in the first trial?" and "I don't even expect the admission cancellation to be enforced."
Earlier, Pusan National University submitted a plan of action regarding Cho's medical school admission to the Ministry of Education. However, the university has remained silent about the details of the plan.
In this regard, the Ministry of Education stated, "We will promptly review the official document from Pusan National University" and announced that they plan to provide a related position within this week without delay.
Previously, on the 8th, the Ministry of Education sent an official letter to Pusan National University requesting the establishment and reporting of follow-up measures concerning the allegations of fraudulent admission of Cho to the medical school.
Yoo Eun-hye, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, also said at the National Assembly Education Committee plenary session on the 16th, "To resolve these suspicions and ensure fairness in admissions, it was judged necessary for Pusan National University to investigate the facts and hold related committees, so we requested the university to establish and report a plan."
Until now, Pusan National University has maintained the position that "once the court's final verdict is issued, the matter will be handled according to the school regulations in principle." Following the first trial ruling in December last year that Cho's admission documents were forged, criticism against the university also arose.
Meanwhile, Jung Kyung-shim, a professor at Dongyang University and wife of former Minister Cho Kuk, who was indicted on charges of private equity fund and children's admission corruption, was sentenced to four years in prison and detained in court in the first trial last December.

At that time, the court judged that all the so-called "7 major specs" used by Cho Min for admission to Seoul National University and Pusan National University medical schools were false. Accordingly, Professor Jung's side claimed innocence and appealed.
