Some Ruling Party Lawmakers Suspected of Prostitution in Parliament... Prime Minister Morrison Issues Public Apology
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison is facing his greatest crisis as various sexual assault allegations against members of the ruling Liberal Party continue to surface. The situation is expected to be difficult to calm down as suspicions have emerged that some government aides shared pornography and engaged in prostitution in the parliamentary prayer room.
According to local media Nine News on the 23rd, Prime Minister Scott Morrison held a press conference and apologized, saying, "My response to this situation was inappropriate," regarding the recent string of sexual assault allegations against the Liberal Party. He added, "Our politicians need to change their perception of women," and said, "I will stand in solidarity with all female lawmakers and female party officials."
Morrison also denied allegations that he was aware of various sexual assault incidents within the Liberal Party but took no significant action. He said, "I listened to all the allegations raised," and "I was also very shocked."
In particular, Morrison showed emotional distress when mentioning his wife while discussing women's rights issues in Australian society. He said, "These sexual assault incidents have been occurring not only within our government but throughout Australian society," and "Finally, society is paying attention to the women of Australia who have suffered for a long time."
Prime Minister Morrison's public apology on this day was in response to the ongoing sexual scandal allegations against the Liberal Party.
The previous day, the local newspaper The Australian reported, citing whistleblowers, that some government officials and aides had shared pornographic videos, including their own masturbation videos, with colleagues for years.
The videos reportedly showed male aides engaging in sexual acts at the desks of female staff and female lawmakers' offices. A whistleblower criticized in an interview with The Australian, saying, "The ruling party aides have shared such pornography without any sense of guilt," and "They are all morally bankrupt."
There was also an expos? that some ruling party lawmakers invited sex workers to the prayer room inside the parliamentary building and engaged in prostitution. The whistleblower stated, "This prostitution was carried out solely to satisfy the sexual desires of the ruling party lawmakers."
Earlier, sexual assault allegations against Australia's ruling party had been emerging since last month. According to a local media report last month, Attorney-General Christian Porter was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old minor in 1988. Porter has completely denied these sexual assault allegations.

In addition, Brittany Higgins, who was a staff member of the ruling Liberal Party, revealed that she was raped by another employee in the office of the then Minister for Defence Industry in 2019.
