Park Young-sun, Continuing Policy Moves and Checks Against Oh: "Relocate National Assembly Site as a Startup Hub"
23rd "National Assembly to Relocate to Sejong with Startup Convention Center and Concert Hall"
'Youth Jobs, Opportunities, and Living Spaces' Policy Announced
Spokesperson Kang Sun-woo Calls Oh Se-hoon a "Master of Outdated Administration"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Park Young-sun, the Democratic Party candidate, continued her policy activities even on the 23rd, when Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, was confirmed as the unified candidate of the opposition camp. On the morning of that day, Park announced plans for the utilization of the National Assembly relocation site and job measures for young people one after another. At the same time, her campaign actively took measures to check candidate Oh.
On the 23rd, Park announced plans for the utilization of the National Assembly relocation site at the Seoul Marina Club in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. She explained that the area including Seoyeouido, where the National Assembly is located, would be designated as a special zone for youth startups and nurtured as a global startup hub.
Park said, "Because the National Assembly is located in Yeouido, the national administrative and social inefficiency costs amount to at least 2.8 trillion won and up to 4.88 trillion won annually," adding, "We will move the National Assembly to Sejong to resolve administrative inefficiency and Seoul's overpopulation, and return the remaining area to the youth and citizens." She plans to build a startup convention center and concert hall on the site of the National Assembly main building relocated to Sejong, transform the National Assembly Communication Center into a startup and venture innovation hub housing support organizations and companies, and convert the National Assembly Members' Office Building into a startup and venture academy.

She continued, "Through the relocation of the National Assembly, we will realize former President Roh Moo-hyun's dream of 'national balanced development' and surely achieve the dream of 'Seoul as a global digital economic capital' together with the youth," adding, "We will set the 100-year coordinate of Seoul, filled with new imagination, starting from the Yeouido National Assembly building."
At the launch ceremony of the '2030 Election Countermeasures Committee' held in the Yeouido Seoul Party Office conference room, Park announced pledges targeting young people. She said, "Seoul City must step up to create jobs, places to stand, and places to live for young people and be a strong support," mentioning ▲ 50 million won interest-free loans as startup capital for youth ▲ allocation of a certain percentage of public housing to single-person households through reform of the single-person household subscription system ▲ implementation of a youth jeonse and monthly rent deposit protection system ▲ expansion of eligibility for youth monthly rent support ▲ expansion of self-reliance support funds for youth leaving childcare facilities, promising to reduce the housing cost burden for Seoul's youth.
She also added, "We will devote ourselves to creating 10,000 digital youth jobs and expanding internships in public institutions to prepare jobs for young people."
While Park continued these policy activities, her campaign also launched political offensives against candidate Oh.
On that day, spokesperson Kang Sun-woo issued four statements strongly criticizing candidate Oh. As soon as Oh was confirmed as the unified opposition candidate, Kang said in a statement, "A person who self-impeached and abandoned the Seoul mayor's office, a person who spews lies whenever he opens his mouth, and a person who will devote the remaining one year of Seoul administration only to political struggles," harshly criticizing him. Kang also criticized Oh's childcare pledge as unqualified.
Kang pointed out, "Wasn't his greatest achievement as mayor the self-impeachment by pushing forward the 'free school meals referendum' despite criticism that it would cost 18.2 billion won of taxpayers' money?" adding, "It is a mean and heartless value system that does not care about the humiliation and self-loathing that the children growing up will experience."
Meanwhile, Park filed a complaint on the same day against People Power Party lawmakers Sung Il-jong, former Supreme Council member Lee Jun-seok, Kim Eun-hye, and Kim Do-eup for violating the Public Official Election Act (spreading false information, defamation of candidates) and insult. The complaint was submitted through a representative to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.

Park's side stated, "The accused spread false information that intentionally distorted and exaggerated the circumstances, purpose, scale, and location related to Park's purchase of a Japanese apartment using expressions such as 'luxury apartment,' 'Yasukuni view,' and 'true native Japanese collaborator'." They explained that the apartment is a small unit of about 20 pyeong, purchased solely for residential purposes related to work, but the facts were intentionally distorted and exaggerated. Park's side strongly refuted, saying, "Just because she purchased the apartment for work and actual residence, they defamed and insulted her with terms like 'native Japanese collaborator' and 'hypocrite Young-sun.'"
