Muan-gun Expands Citizen Safety Insurance to All Residents
Increase Maximum Coverage Amount to 20 Million Won for 11 Items with High Accident Rates
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 23rd that it will expand the implementation of the county residents' safety insurance, which has been in effect since last year for all county residents.
The county residents' safety insurance is a system in which the county contracts with an insurance company (Korea Local Finance Guarantee Fund) to pay a certain amount of insurance money to residents who suffer damage due to various unexpected disasters, accidents, or crimes during daily life.
The insurance covers 19 items, and any resident registered as having an address in Muan County (including registered foreigners) is automatically enrolled without any separate procedures.
In particular, starting this year, the coverage amounts for 11 items with high accident rates?such as death from natural disasters, explosion, fire, collapse death and aftereffects, death and aftereffects from public transportation use, death and aftereffects from robbery, death from drowning accidents, death and aftereffects from agricultural machinery accidents, and injury treatment costs from school zone traffic accidents?have been increased by 10 million KRW, allowing compensation up to 20 million KRW.
However, the coverage amounts for 8 items, including medical malpractice legal cost support, sexual violence victim compensation, and violent crime victim compensation, remain the same as last year.
Residents who have suffered damage can submit insurance claim forms and supporting documents to the insurance company within three years from the date of the accident. Insurance payments will be made based on the review results. For detailed information regarding the county residents' safety insurance, inquiries can be made to the Muan County Office Safety General Division or the Korea Local Finance Guarantee Fund for thorough guidance.
Governor Kim San said, "I hope the insurance money will be a comfort to residents who have experienced unfortunate accidents," and added, "We will create a safe Muan by continuously expanding the operation of the county residents' safety insurance."
