On the morning of the 23rd, Jeonnam Superintendent of Education Jang Seok-woong held a non-face-to-face policy briefing in the main office's conference room and announced the plan to promote the 'Jeonnam-type Green Smart Future School.'
The plan is to rebuild and remodel 175 schools with 242 buildings in the province that have exceeded 40 years since construction, using a digital and green convergence New Deal approach from this year through 2025. The total project cost over five years is 1.3 trillion KRW, of which 30% (402.6 billion KRW) will be supported by national funds.
In the first year of the project, 3.6 trillion KRW will be invested to carry out work on 47 schools with 82 buildings, accounting for 26.7% of the total five-year project volume. Among these, 36 buildings will be rebuilt, and 46 buildings will be remodeled.
The Green Smart Future School is one of the Korean New Deal's top 10 representative projects and a core policy of the Ministry of Education, aimed at transforming educational environments suitable for future education. To effectively promote this, the only Green Smart Future School Promotion Team in the nation, composed of education professionals and administrative staff, has been operating since January this year.
The Provincial Office of Education has selected four core elements to promote the project: ▲ curriculum-linked space innovation ▲ establishment of smart classrooms for future-oriented teaching and learning ▲ green schools considering environmental and ecological education ▲ school complexification connecting schools and local communities.
