Jangseong-gun Holds Final Report Meeting on Mid- to Long-Term Comprehensive Development Plan Establishment
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong County in Jeonnam announced on the 23rd that it held the final report meeting for the establishment research project of the ‘Jangseong Vision 2030 Mid- to Long-term Comprehensive Development Plan’ at the county office, attended by County Governor Yoo Doo-seok, county council members, and advisory committee members.
The county formed a dedicated task force (TF team) for establishing the mid- to long-term comprehensive development plan, held forums, conducted department interviews, and consulted experts to discover seven development goals and 28 core projects.
The seven development goals established by the county are ▲Smart economic city centered on people and jobs ▲New growth future agricultural city in line with climate change ▲Attractive leisure tourism city utilizing local resources ▲Safe and pleasant eco-friendly city ▲Happy welfare city where neighbors share ▲Healthy education-friendly city for nurturing creative talents ▲Empathetic administrative city communicating with residents.
A representative core project is the establishment of a ‘Medical Cluster.’ The county plans to build the medical cluster by maximizing the advantageous location close to Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Korea Cardiovascular Stent Institute, Nano Bio Research Center, and with convenient transportation access in all directions.
Additionally, the goal is to lay the foundation for fostering the bioindustry by attracting advanced medical and bio convergence research institutes and related companies, thereby creating quality jobs.
In the agricultural sector, emphasis was placed on preparing countermeasures against global warming. After attracting the National Subtropical Crop Demonstration Center in June last year, the county plans to focus on researching, producing, and distributing high value-added subtropical crops.
Other notable initiatives include the dissemination of advanced unmanned automated agriculture and the establishment of a bioenergy production system using agricultural and livestock by-products.
In the tourism industry sector, projects proposed include creating the Hwangryonggang ‘Little Venice’ utilizing Jangseong’s tourism resources such as Hwangryonggang River and Jangseong Lake, expanding village community hotels and healing campsites, and operating a media art complex welcome center to strengthen promotional marketing.

Governor Yoo Doo-seok said, “The Jangseong Vision 2030 Mid- to Long-term Comprehensive Development Plan established this time will serve as a guide showing the path for Jangseong’s county administration for the next 10 years,” and added, “Based on this plan, we will lead regional development through continuous policy research.”
