On the 23rd, the Korean Central News Agency reported, "Comrade Kim Jong-un, based on the deep comradely relationship, sent an oral letter to Comrade Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, informing him of the situation of the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party."
The agency explained that the letter notified "the discussion and decision on policy positions related to strengthening national defense, inter-Korean relations, and DPRK-US relations based on serious study and analysis of the situation on the Korean Peninsula and international relations," and emphasized "that in response to the all-out challenges and disruptive acts of hostile forces, the two parties and two countries of North Korea and China should strengthen unity and cooperation."
