Gwangju Dong-gu, Tailored Support for Single-Person Households Progressing Smoothly
Establishment of Life Support Application System... Promotion of Five Major Sector Representative Projects
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 22nd that it will implement customized support measures for safe and healthy independent living targeting the steadily increasing number of single-person households.
As of the end of February, the proportion of single-person households in Dong-gu stands at 45.4%, significantly exceeding the national average (39.2%) and Gwangju average (37.5%).
Accordingly, Dong-gu has been exploring various measures, including enacting the "Ordinance on Support for Single-Person Households" in May last year and conducting a survey on the actual conditions of single-person households in September, to establish policies for single-person households.
Dong-gu plans to establish an integrated support service system for single-person households and build a "Life Support Application System" using the mobile app "Dudream".
With the goal of preventing social isolation and fostering healthy independent living, nine representative projects across five major areas have been selected for focused implementation.
By sector, ▲ In the social safety net construction area: support for the single-person household residential safety "Home Alone" 3-piece set, single-person household happiness financial management group "I Use It Alone"; ▲ In the housing support area: simple moving service for single-person households "Help Me, Dong-gu Express"; ▲ In the community revitalization area: "Happiness Club" for wise single living; ▲ In the health support area: support for young single-person households "Happy Food", emergency care "Dong-gu Ambulance" service; ▲ In the cultural leisure area: humanities lectures for single-person households, totaling nine detailed projects will be promoted.
Starting this month, to expand residential safety and support living stability in the social safety net construction area, a residential safety 3-piece set including ▲ auxiliary door keys ▲ window safety locks ▲ entrance sensor lights is being provided to women and elderly single-person households.
Additionally, a financial and legal expert advisory group has been formed to support financial planning and legal issues related to inheritance and funerals for single-person households facing difficulties, aiming at old-age preparation and economic independence.
To revitalize the community, the "Happiness Club" for wise single living, covering safety, humanities, health, and culture, will receive support for education and experiential activity expenses, and the community for forming various social networks will be expanded.
