'New Middle-aged' refers to the 5060 generation around the age of 50 who are retiring from jobs and preparing for retirement from the labor market while engaging in reemployment jobs. This program reflects the reality of a lack of jobs despite having a higher education level and rich experience as key players in the period of rapid growth compared to previous generations.
The Andong area has a high proportion of forest area, making it an environment suitable for the beekeeping industry. According to the Andong City Statistical Yearbook as of 2018, there are 559 households raising honeybees in Andong City, an 18% increase compared to 2017, showing a rapid increase in the number of beekeeping farms every year.
This beekeeping startup education, organized by Catholic Sangji University, will recruit 20 new middle-aged participants and will be conducted over the next four months. Andong City explained that various customized programs such as startup education and consulting, and beekeeping mentor-mentee connections will be arranged while combining theory and practice.
