U+Chodeungnara Presented to Suncheon Yulsan Elementary, the Most Participated School in the 'Elementary Power Competition'
[Asia Economy Reporter Joesulgina] LG Uplus announced on the 21st that the nationwide quiz competition “2021 National Elementary Power Contest,” held to promote the excellent content of U+ Elementary Country, successfully concluded with participation from 3,463 elementary schools.
This participatory campaign involved solving quizzes related to the regular elementary school curriculum and elementary culture, with prizes awarded through a lottery. Participation was open regardless of the telecommunications provider or age of the users.
The competition, held from January 15 to February 11, saw the top 2% of participants score a perfect 100 points, and 5% scored in the 90s. The majority of participants, 61.7%, scored in the mid-range between 40 and 70 points. About 70% of the participants were graduates, proudly showing their school spirit (愛校心).
The Elementary Power Contest involved solving 15 randomly selected questions from over 120 sample problems. Questions included selecting improved scientific terms or finding answers to equations through symbols.
LG Uplus gifted 10 “U+ Elementary Country Tablets” and one-year free subscriptions to students of Suncheon Yulsan Elementary School in Jeonnam, which had the highest number of quiz participants among individual schools. Graduates and current students of Suncheon Yulsan Elementary School accounted for 9% of all participants.
Participants in this competition left positive feedback such as, “Although these were elementary school curriculum questions, they were surprisingly difficult even for adults,” “It was a great time for the whole family to participate together with my child,” and “I enjoyed solving the problems and sharing the scores with family and friends, making it a fun experience.”
Lee Seok-young, team leader of the U+ Elementary Country Tribe at LG Uplus, said, “There are still concerns that the academic gap will widen in educational settings as it becomes difficult for students to attend school this year as well,” adding, “We hope that the U+ Elementary Country service, donated by LG Uplus to schools, will help reduce learning disparities.”
