Total of 675,426 Vaccinations Administered... 85% of Priority Group Vaccinated

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Since the start of COVID-19 vaccination in South Korea, 84.5% of the priority vaccination group have completed their first dose within 22 days.
The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) announced on the 20th at midnight that 15,132 additional vaccine doses had been administered. Since vaccinations began domestically on the 26th of last month, a total of 675,426 people have completed their first dose over 22 days. Among the 799,398 priority vaccination targets in February and March, 84.5% have received their first dose. The vaccination rate compared to the domestic population (52 million) stands at approximately 1.30%.
Among all vaccinated individuals, 618,852 received the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine, and 56,574 received the Pfizer vaccine. Looking at the 15,132 vaccinations administered nationwide the previous day by region, Seoul had the highest number with 3,935 vaccinations. This was followed by Gyeonggi with 2,390, Incheon 1,672, Busan 1,208, Chungbuk 874, Ulsan 790, Daegu 670, Gyeongnam 522, Daejeon 517, Gangwon 498, Gyeongbuk 441, Gwangju 395, Jeonnam 369, Jeonbuk 342, Jeju 300, Sejong 106, and Chungnam 103.

The government is currently conducting vaccinations using initial supplies of AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines. Both vaccines require two doses, and currently, the first dose is being administered. The AstraZeneca vaccine’s second dose is scheduled 10 weeks after the first, while the Pfizer vaccine’s second dose is given after 3 weeks. Starting today, second doses are being administered to those who received their first Pfizer vaccine dose, such as COVID-19 treatment hospital workers. For AstraZeneca recipients, second doses are expected to begin around the end of April.
