[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 19th that it held a communication meeting with the Geochang-gun Park Golf Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) at the county office situation room.
On this day, about 20 people, including Shin Yong-hak, president of the Association, club presidents and executives from each club totaling 18 people, and county officials attended to listen to the difficulties of the rapidly increasing park golf members and exchanged various opinions such as the early promotion of the park golf course within the 2nd Changpowon.
The main topics were various opinions on expanding and revitalizing park golf facility infrastructure, which is gaining attention as a living sports activity. In particular, they requested much administrative interest and cooperation so that infrastructure construction projects such as the park golf course being promoted within the 2nd Changpowon and the park golf course within the closed site of Gajo District IC could be completed early.
President Shin said, “We appreciate the great interest and support for the development of the Park Golf Association, including park golf tournaments and infrastructure expansion,” and added, “We hope that the park golf courses in Namha and Gajo areas currently being promoted will be completed early to help alleviate inconveniences for club members and contribute greatly to the development of the local economy.”
Following this, Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, urged, “As COVID-19 infections have recently been spreading again in nearby areas and the situation is prolonged, please play while strictly following the social distancing rules in daily life,” and said, “We will do our best to ensure that the park golf infrastructure currently being constructed can be completed early.”
Currently, the Park Golf Association in Geochang-gun has about 700 people enjoying the sport across 11 clubs. The game can be played with just one club and one ball, and despite the COVID-19 situation, many people enjoy it as an outdoor sport held in green spaces such as parks and the riverbank embankment of Geochang Sports Park.
Meanwhile, the county plans to actively promote the matters proposed and suggested through this meeting.
