KIC Discusses North American Renewable Energy Investment Outlook with U.S. Institutional Investors
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) announced on the 19th that it held a meeting to discuss the outlook for renewable energy investments in the North American region together with the Korean government, public investment institutions, private financial institutions based in New York, and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
Hosted by KIC's New York office, the 35th New York International Financial Council meeting was held online on the afternoon of the 18th (local time). Attendees included government officials such as financial attach?s stationed in New York, public investment institutions, securities firms, banks, and investment managers from domestic financial institutions.
At the meeting, Bruce McLennan, Partner at GIP, and Nathaniel Anschuetz, Senior, introduced recent renewable energy platform investment cases, stating, "Amid the Biden administration's commitment to clean energy policies, the global trend toward decarbonization, and companies' growing interest in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-focused management, we view the investment outlook for renewable energy in the North American region positively."
Furthermore, GIP explained that in addition to investments in solar and wind power, investments in energy storage facilities and smart grids?which provide solutions to issues such as irregular power supply and transmission congestion arising during renewable energy production and distribution?are also expected to attract attention.
