Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at the regular briefing on the 18th, "China values the recent rare opportunity for dialogue," and added, "We will face the relevant countries, manage conflicts together, actively promote dialogue and contact, and safeguard peace and stability in the region."
On the same day, Secretary Blinken said in Seoul after the '2+2 meeting' involving the foreign and defense ministers of South Korea and the United States, "China can play a very important role in persuading North Korea to denuclearize."
