Samsung Neo QLED Obtains German VDE 'Gaming TV Performance' Certification
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Electronics announced on the 18th that its Neo QLED TV has become the first in the industry to receive the 'Gaming TV Performance' certification from the German certification body VDE.
The Gaming TV Performance certification is based on 'minimum input lag time' and 'HDR brightness of 1000 nits or higher.' Input lag refers to the time it takes for a command entered on a gamepad to appear on the screen, and the shorter this time, the more immersive the gaming experience. Additionally, the HDR feature, which displays bright scenes brighter and dark scenes darker to provide optimal contrast, is also an important factor for gaming.
The certification applies to four Neo QLED models (QN900, QN800, QN90, QN85). Samsung Neo QLED passed the VDE standard as input lag was measured at under 10ms in all gaming scenarios during testing. It also achieved VDE certification by delivering HDR brightness of over 1000 nits even in gaming environments. Samsung Electronics explained, "This is the first time in the TV industry that a Gaming TV Performance certification has been received from VDE."
Samsung Electronics also stated that Neo QLED is equipped with additional gaming-related features. With 100% color volume and 12-bit backlight control, it can express details and accurate colors even in dark scenes, and by applying Wide Game View, the screen can be adjusted to 21:9, 32:9, and other ratios. The Game Bar feature allows various game-related information to be displayed on the screen. Furthermore, it supports ▲120Hz fast game motion implementation with Motion Accelerator Turbo+ ▲'Burn-in Free' technology that allows gaming without burn-in concerns even with fixed game UI ▲AI-based 'Game Surround Sound' and 'Moving Sound+ (OTS+)' for immersive sound experience.
