[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The police have launched a forced investigation into the author of a mocking post related to the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) that was uploaded on the anonymous workplace social networking service (SNS) ‘Blind’.
The Cyber Investigation Division of the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency began a search and seizure operation at the LH headquarters located in Jinju, Gyeongnam, and at TeamBlind, the operator of Blind, starting from 3 p.m. on the 17th.
The police plan to execute the warrant via email to the TeamBlind headquarters located in the United States, while also confirming the location and contact information of its Korean branch. A police official explained, "During the process of identifying the Korean branch’s location, we found an address listed in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and visited the site to verify if the office still existed," adding, "As a result of the verification, the office did not exist."
The police intend to secure related materials that can identify the author through the search and seizure.
The author of the post had uploaded a message titled ‘They don’t even care internally’ on the Blind anonymous board on the 9th, expressing outrage with claims such as ‘I will diligently speculate under a borrowed name and enjoy my retirement benefits’ and ‘This is the exclusive benefit and welfare of our company’ in relation to the LH speculation scandal. Since Blind requires registration through a company email account, the author of the post was presumed to be an LH employee.
