Gwangyang City Recruiting Members for the Municipal Boys and Girls Choir
Support Available for Local Students from 3rd Grade Elementary to Middle School
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City announced on the 16th that it is recruiting new members for the Gwangyang City Children’s Choir, which is operated to promote culture and the arts.
Any student from 3rd grade elementary school to middle school residing in Gwangyang City who has both musical interest and ability can apply.
Applications can be submitted in person at the Gwangyang City Culture and Arts Division (4th floor of the Council Building) or by email from the 22nd to the 26th.
The practical exam will include one designated song (Haneulnara Donghwa) and one free-choice song for elementary students, and one song from the prepared textbook for middle school students. Simple vocal range, choreography, and ear training tests will also be conducted.
The practical exam and interview will be held on the 3rd of next month at the choir practice room (basement 1st floor of the Culture and Arts Center). Detailed information regarding the application and recruitment can be found on the Gwangyang City website under notices or announcements.
Lee Gi-seop, Director of the Culture and Arts Division, said, “We hope many young people will show interest and apply for this new member recruitment,” and added, “We will continue to work to develop the choir members’ abilities and expand cultural enjoyment opportunities for citizens.”

The Gwangyang City Children’s Choir was founded in July 2010 to promote children’s songs and cultural arts development. Through various performances throughout the year, it nurtures the artistic talents of Gwangyang’s aspiring choir members and strives to broaden the base of children’s choir activities.
