Suncheon-si, Contest for Symbols of the 61st Jeollanam-do Sports Festival
The application period is from the 17th to the 16th of next month, open to all citizens
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 16th that it will hold a contest for symbols to pray for the successful hosting of the 61st Jeonnam Provincial Sports Festival to be held in Suncheon next April and to promote coexistence and harmony among 2 million Jeonnam residents.
The contest targets five categories: the event mark (emblem), mascot, poster, slogan, and motto. Considering the connection with symbols of Jeollanam-do and the host city Suncheon, the theme is to concisely express harmony and unity while praying for the success of the 61st Jeonnam Sports Festival.
The application period is 30 days from the 17th to the 16th of next month, and anyone who is a citizen of the Republic of Korea is eligible to apply.
Applicants can download the application form from the Suncheon City website and submit it by visiting or mailing (registered mail) it to the Jeonnam Sports Festival TF Team, Sports Promotion Division of Suncheon City.
The submitted works will be judged by a committee focusing on four criteria: relevance to the theme, artistic quality, empathy (friendliness), and originality. Winners and runners-up will be selected in each of the five categories, with a total prize money of 10 million KRW awarded.
A Suncheon City official said, “We ask for many applications and interest in this symbol contest held for the successful hosting of next year’s Jeonnam Sports Festival, and we will do our best to prepare for the event.”
Meanwhile, the 61st Jeollanam-do Sports Festival next year will be held at 18 venues including Suncheon Palma Stadium, with about 21,000 athletes participating from 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam.

The city is expanding and renovating stadium facilities for this event and expects an economic ripple effect of more than 15 billion KRW in the local economy.
