Prosecutors and Police in Southern Seoul Establish Nation's First Prosecutor-Police Cooperation System
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 15th that it held a meeting with the heads of five police stations in the Seoul Southern area (Gangseo, Yeongdeungpo, Geumcheon, Guro, Yangcheon) to "promote cooperation between prosecution and police investigations."
At the meeting, the prosecution and police agreed to designate a "dedicated investigation cooperation department" within the prosecution to strengthen mutual communication and cooperation from the initial stages of important cases.
Additionally, for the first time nationwide, they decided to establish a regional-level prosecution-police cooperation system and to create an efficient cooperation framework through meetings between heads of institutions and working-level officials once or twice a year.
In particular, regarding real estate speculation offenders, which have recently emerged as a social issue, the prosecution and police plan to build a "hotline" to closely coordinate from the occurrence of related cases and the warrant application stages.
