Gwangyang-si, Promotion of Soil Conditioner Supply Project
Supply of 1,068 Tons of Soil Conditioner, Operation of Regional Joint Spraying Teams
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City announced on the 15th that it will supply 1,068 tons of soil conditioners such as siliceous materials and lime to Okryong-myeon, Okgok-myeon, and Jinsang-myeon by investing 186 million KRW to improve soils with low available silica content and acidification through regional soil analysis and to maintain and preserve soil fertility.
The soil conditioners are supplied every three years according to government policy, with next year’s supply planned for Jinwol-myeon, Daap-myeon, and Dong area, and in 2023 for Gwangyang-eup and Bonggang-myeon.
Additionally, considering the rural reality of an aging farming population and labor shortages, the city plans to form joint spreading teams by region in fields where mechanized spreading is possible to promote timely application of soil conditioners.
