GS25, a convenience store operated by GS Retail, analyzed delivery service usage products from March 2020 to February 2021. The analysis showed that ready-to-eat foods, beverages, and snacks accounted for nearly half, 49.9%, of all deliverable products. Ready-to-eat foods made up 21.7%, with Chicken25 products accounting for 10.1%, placing many of them on the top product list.
In December last year, GS25 conducted a survey of 250 customers who ordered Chicken25 to gather requests for product improvements. The results showed the top requests as follows: 1st, set development (34.4%); 2nd, price reduction (30.8%); 3rd, increased quantity (20.4%); 4th, texture improvement (9.6%); and 5th, others (8.8%).
Reflecting requests for sets and increased quantity, the newly introduced 'Ssonsal Chicken' is a set-type boneless chicken. It is a boneless chicken made from domestically sourced chicken breast, with an increased quantity of 640g compared to the existing Chicken25 products. This amount is suitable for 2 to 3 adults to enjoy as home drinking or a late-night snack. The packaging box is designed as a set package that can hold the chicken and three complimentary items together, allowing customers to taste boneless chicken along with chicken radish, chicken seasoning sauce, and a 190ml Pepsi Cola all at once upon ordering.
The texture has also been improved. To provide a crispier feeling than the existing boneless chicken, a typical fried chicken batter curl is used, and a separately developed spicy seasoning is added, allowing customers to enjoy 'Gatba Sokchok' (crispy outside, moist inside) boneless chicken. The price is 10,000 KRW.
From the 16th to the 31st, customers can purchase Ssonsal Chicken for 7,000 KRW (excluding delivery fee), discounted by 3,000 KRW, when ordering through Yogiyo and KakaoTalk Order. KakaoTalk Order customers using BC Card will receive an additional 5,000 KRW discount, making the total discount 8,000 KRW, allowing purchase for 2,000 KRW (excluding delivery fee).
GS25 will hold various customer support events to celebrate the first anniversary of its delivery service. Customers ordering through Yogiyo will receive a 3,000 KRW discount on promotional products from the 16th to the 31st of this month. For KakaoTalk Order customers, those who order over 10,000 KRW using BC Card from March 16 to 31 will receive a 5,000 KRW discount on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sung Chan-gan, Executive Director of the MD Division at GS25 Convenience Store, said, "GS25, the convenience store delivery platform, conducted a survey on the chicken products most frequently ordered by customers and introduced Ssonsal Chicken, the most suitable product for solo drinking snacks." He added, "We will strive to establish ourselves as the optimal delivery order platform for customers through various preferred products and promotions."
GS25 has been operating Yogiyo since March last year and was the first in the industry to operate KakaoTalk Order in November. Currently, delivery services are provided at about 5,000 stores. Approximately 1,500 products are available for delivery, and almost all popular store products can be delivered. The delivery fee is 3,000 KRW.
