Sejong-si, Talent Development in Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Fields
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City is embarking on nurturing talent in the fields of artificial intelligence and blockchain.
The city announced on the 15th that, in collaboration with Sejong Technopark and Korea University, it will conduct the "2021 Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Education for Future Talent Development" course from the 20th of this month through November.
The education program is promoted as part of the Ministry of Science and ICT's "Regional Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Innovation Square Establishment Project" and serves as a regional hub-building project aimed at fostering software specialists and supporting development areas.
The city plans to invest a total of 2.26 billion KRW by 2023 to train 360 specialists in artificial intelligence and blockchain.
Applicants for each course will be recruited on an ongoing basis. The curriculum is structured in stages: basic, advanced, and business model, and anyone aged 18 or older residing, working, or studying in Sejong City with an interest in artificial intelligence and blockchain can participate free of charge.
The first half of the education will be held at Korea University Sejong Campus, College of Science and Technology Building 1, with courses including two basic AI courses, three advanced AI courses, one business model course, and two advanced blockchain courses.
From July, the education venue will be relocated to the LH rental commercial space in Dajeong-dong to continue the courses.
All courses include a component where trainees create and execute mini projects to enhance practical skills. The city also plans to select outstanding projects submitted at the end of the training and award them at the year-end ceremony.

A city official stated, "Sejong is the youngest city nationwide, with a steadily increasing demand for youth employment and entrepreneurship. The city will continue to strive to create a quality educational environment so that Sejong can emerge as a global hub for digital talent development."
