[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City (Acting Mayor Lee Byung-jin) will begin a pilot operation of the ‘Inpatient Child Care Service’ starting in June.
This service is operated as part of the ‘Gap Visiting Care’ support project to overcome the low birthrate issue.
It is a project where professionally trained inpatient child caregivers provide customized care services tailored to the child’s age and condition, such as helping with meals and medication, and offering emotional support (reading books, play assistance) to children hospitalized in the hospital.
The pilot project will first be implemented in Nam-gu and Yeongdo-gu areas and is planned to be expanded to the entire Busan region.
The service target is children aged from 3 months to 12 years old who reside in the pilot areas of Nam-gu and Yeongdo-gu and are hospitalized or scheduled to be hospitalized in hospitals located in Busan.
The usage fee is 13,000 KRW per hour, but depending on income criteria and type, differential support is provided, so the actual amount the user pays ranges from 1,300 KRW to 6,500 KRW per hour.
Applications for use will begin in June. Users apply for the ‘Child Care Support Service’ at their local dong administrative welfare center, receive a grade assessment, and then apply to the executing agency, the Dong-gu Women’s Human Resources Development Center in Busan.
The Dong-gu Women’s Human Resources Development Center comprehensively considers the user’s requirements and connects them with a suitable inpatient child caregiver, who is then sent to the hospital where the child is admitted to provide care for the designated time.
Currently, the Dong-gu Women’s Human Resources Development Center is recruiting trainees for inpatient child caregiver training, and those who wish to work as inpatient child caregivers can apply or inquire at the center.
