Gangbuk-gu Launches Carbon Neutral 10+1 Action Campaign
Commitment to 10 Energy-Saving Actions in Daily Life... Receive Incentives Worth 10,000 to 50,000 KRW for Participating in 1 Eco-Mileage Program
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyumsu) is launching the ‘Carbon Neutral 10+1 Action Campaign’ to respond to the rapidly changing climate crisis.
The ‘Carbon Neutral 10+1 Campaign’ is a pledge campaign to practice action tasks aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in daily life.
It signifies that energy saving is essential to lower carbon dioxide, the main cause of greenhouse gas emissions.
Carbon neutrality is the concept of increasing absorption to offset the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by individuals or companies, ultimately achieving a zero (0) state.
The action campaign consists of 10 energy-saving behaviors and 1 participation activity.
The 10 behavioral rules are ▲using high-efficiency energy products ▲cutting off standby power ▲reducing appliance usage time ▲maintaining appropriate indoor temperature ▲eco-friendly driving ▲using public transportation ▲reducing food waste ▲not using disposable products ▲thorough waste separation ▲practicing water conservation.
The 1 participation activity is the Eco Mileage program, which provides incentives worth 10,000 to 50,000 KRW depending on the energy saving rate for electricity, city gas, water, etc.
These incentives can be deducted from apartment management fees or exchanged for cash, and can also be received as traditional market Onnuri gift certificates or mobile cultural gift certificates.
Residents who share the will for carbon neutrality can join through the district office website (Information by Field → Environment → Climate Crisis Response Pledge).
Among the detailed action promises, individuals can select their own behavioral rules. Once the rules are chosen, the expected annual carbon dioxide reduction amount is automatically displayed. Upon completing the pledge with one’s commitment, the screen links to the Eco Mileage participation page.
The district plans to lead by example in public institutions first, then encourage voluntary resident participation. Promotional activities will be conducted alongside environmental guardians such as the Citizen Action Group.
