Carter, Clinton, and Obama Unite... "Get Your COVID-19 Vaccine"
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Former U.S. presidents have united to encourage COVID-19 vaccination.
According to CNN on the 11th (local time), a COVID-19 vaccination advertisement featuring former U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama will air starting this week.
The advertisement was created by the nonprofit organization Ad Council to counter vaccine skepticism.
There are two advertisements featuring former presidents.
The one-minute ad shows the four former presidents and their respective first ladies receiving the vaccine.
When former President Bush says, "Everyone will soon have access to the vaccine," former President Obama adds, "I hope the vaccine protects you and your loved ones from this dangerous and deadly disease."
Former President Clinton explains his reason for getting vaccinated, saying, "I want to get back to work and travel around."
Former President Obama expressed his wish to visit and hug his mother-in-law on her birthday, and former President Bush shared his anticipation of attending a packed stadium at the Texas Rangers baseball team's opening game.
Another advertisement shows former Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama gathered in front of the Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery, urging Americans to get vaccinated.
Only former President Donald Trump and his wife Melania, among living U.S. presidents, were excluded from this advertisement.
Former President Trump received the COVID-19 vaccine last January, but this fact was revealed only weeks after he left the White House.
CNN explained that this advertisement is airing at a very critical time in the fight against COVID-19.
According to CNN's tally, 93.7 million people in the U.S. have been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far.
