Deputy Governors of the Financial Supervisory Service: "Personnel Controversy, Serious Responsibility... Please Cooperate for the Future"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] The group of deputy governors at the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), where conflicts are escalating over the promotion of an employee previously involved in recruitment corruption, expressed "deep sympathy for the pain and disappointment of the staff" and appealed for internal cooperation.
On the 11th, the deputy governors participating in the personnel committee, including Senior Deputy Governor Kim Geun-ik, Choi Seong-il, Kim Do-in, and Kim Eun-kyung, posted this appeal on the internal bulletin board.
They stated, "We are well aware that dissatisfaction and distrust among employees toward the organization and management have reached a peak following the recent regular personnel reshuffle," adding, "As members of the personnel committee, we deeply regret the current situation and, as part of an organization that loves the FSS, we even feel sorrow and despair."
They continued, "In a situation where promotion and salary advancement bottlenecks have structurally persisted, and distrust in predictability of personnel decisions and evaluation systems has grown, we understand that employees have expressed the frustration and disappointment they have felt so far," adding, "We feel a heavy sense of responsibility regarding this."
They further explained, "Regarding the promotion of the individual involved in recruitment corruption, the personnel committee members were fully aware of the details and have no intention of shifting or avoiding responsibility," and "This decision was made because we believed it would also be problematic to continuously exclude an employee from promotion after disciplinary actions have been completed."
The group of deputy governors expressed, "We feel a grave sense of responsibility for causing conflicts among employees and failing to properly indicate the direction the organization should take," and appealed, "However, a concerning aspect is that internal discussions might inadvertently highlight only conflicts, which could cause the FSS to be perceived externally as a highly unfair and unreasonable organization."
