Seul-A Kim, CEO of Kurly, Selected as 'Young Global Leader' by World Economic Forum 2021
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Market Kurly announced on the 11th that its founder and CEO, Kim Seul-ah, was selected as a 2021 Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The World Economic Forum announced on the 10th (local time in Switzerland) that the 2021 Young Global Leaders number 112. Two Koreans made the list: Market Kurly CEO Kim Seul-ah and Viva Republica (Toss) CEO Lee Seung-gun. Kim Seul-ah was selected in the business category, and Lee Seung-gun in the banking and investment category.
The Young Global Leaders program was created by the World Economic Forum in 2005 to cultivate leaders responsible for a sustainable future, and has produced about 1,400 leaders from 120 countries to date. Each year, influential leaders under 40 from various fields such as politics, entrepreneurship, and research worldwide are selected. The forum provides education programs and networking opportunities to help them grow into true global leaders. This year’s Young Global Leaders include more than 30 individuals who demonstrated innovative changes and efforts to overcome COVID-19 last year.

Among the notable Young Global Leaders produced so far are Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand; Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Finland; and Carlos Alvarado, President of Costa Rica. Koreans selected include Lee Hae-jin, Global Investment Officer (GIO) of Naver; Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group; and soccer player Park Ji-sung.
