Seocho-gu's Youth Employment Vitamin: 'Job-Specific Customized Employment Special Lecture'
Samsung, LG, Kakao, Coupang, Naver, and More: Live Employment Special Lectures from Current Employees... Job-Specific Employment Strategies and Q&A for 10 Job Fields... Every Third Friday 19:00-21:00, Online Lecture (ZOOM) with Customized Coding and Feedback for Job Seekers... First 20 Applicants per Session, Supporting Employment Preparation with 200 Lectures This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Cho) is operating the “Job-Specific Youth Employment Special Lectures with Corporate Insiders” year-round to help young job seekers who are struggling due to the tightening job market caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The job-specific youth employment special lectures prepared by the district will provide a unique opportunity to hear vivid information about various job roles from current employees working at well-known domestic companies such as Samsung, Hyundai, LG, Kakao, Coupang, and Naver, as well as overseas companies like Amazon and Facebook.
From March to December (a total of 10 sessions), the lectures will be held online (via Zoom) in real-time every third Friday of the month from 7 PM to 9 PM, allowing participation regardless of location. As the recruitment market shifts towards a decrease in large-scale recruitment and an increase in on-demand hiring, the lectures will be continuously available to help job seekers prepare for employment at any time.
The lectures consist of job-specific employment strategies and Q&A sessions with corporate insiders in 10 fields: sales, marketing, distribution, finance, IT development, human resources, planning, management, service, and overseas sales.
Through this program, participants can learn in detail about the strengths and weaknesses of each job, the competencies required for practical work, and the employment process from corporate insiders.
According to a survey of daily lecture participants last year, the most challenging part of preparing for employment was choosing a career path or job field. Many participants expressed a desire to meet corporate insiders and have detailed discussions about real workplace experiences. Reflecting this feedback, this year the program will select a small number of participants per session to expand participation opportunities and increase satisfaction.
Eligible participants are young job seekers and university students aged 19 to 34, with Seocho-gu residents given priority. Each session will accept 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
Youth preparing for employment can participate free of charge by applying through the Seocho-gu Office website. For inquiries: Department of Children and Youth.
Meanwhile, the district’s efforts to create youth jobs go beyond the special lectures. To proactively respond to the increasing demand for jobs in the 4th Industrial Revolution, Seocho 4th Industrial College operates programs such as Seocho AI College, Blockchain College, Robot Coding College, Game PD Training Course, Data Labeling Training Course, and Media Creator Training Course.
Additionally, to prepare for this year’s recruitment trends such as untact (contactless) and on-demand hiring, Seocho runs the Seocho Blueprint (Youth Social Advancement) Academy and Job Cafe continuously, offering support for resume writing, AI and VR interviews, and job aptitude tests. Furthermore, the district connects these programs to a youth internship system to ensure education leads to employment.
