Democratic Party: "Demand for Byeon Chang-heum's Dismissal Is Not True"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] The Democratic Party of Korea clarified on the 10th that reports in some media outlets claiming that the party leadership plans to recommend the dismissal of Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Byeon Chang-heum to President Moon Jae-in are "not true."
Chief Spokesperson Choi In-ho stated in a text message sent to reporters on the same day, "We clarify that the reports by some media that the Democratic Party leadership plans to request the dismissal of Minister Byeon to the President are not true."
After the Supreme Council meeting on the morning of the same day, Chief Spokesperson Choi also emphasized to reporters, "The party leadership has not held any discussions regarding Minister Byeon's position."
Acting Party Leader Kim Tae-nyeon also said, "We have not discussed (the dismissal of Minister Byeon)," adding, "The investigation results have not yet been released. The party, government, and President have clearly stated their position to thoroughly investigate the speculation allegations and punish with the strongest measures allowed by law. That stance will not change."
