To showcase a variety of orange flavors, the number of U.S.-grown orange product types, which previously only included one type of navel orange, has been expanded to five.
The newly introduced products are Ken Ajusshi Orange, Halo Mandarin, Cara Cara Orange, and PureSpec Orange. The prices are 5,980 KRW per pack of 5 to 8 pieces for Ken Ajusshi, PureSpec, and Cara Cara oranges; 9,900 KRW for 1.5 kg of Halo Mandarin; and 6,980 KRW per pack of 7 to 11 pieces for navel oranges.
Ken Ajusshi Orange is a differentiated product grown by Ken Ajusshi, an excellent producer who has cultivated oranges for 27 years, at an altitude of 250 meters in California. Through single-producer cultivation, the product quality is uniform, and being grown at a high altitude results in higher sugar content and firmness, characterized by a sweet and crisp texture.
Halo Mandarin is an easy-peel type orange with a thin skin, similar to Korean tangerines. It not only addresses the inconvenience of peeling oranges, which taste good but are cumbersome to peel, but also serves as an excellent substitute for customers who want to enjoy tangerines from early March to late April, a period when domestic tangerines are not available.
Cara Cara Orange looks like a regular orange on the outside but has pink flesh similar to grapefruit. It is characterized by less sourness and a stronger sweet taste. It contains more vitamin C than regular oranges and is rich in nutrients such as fiber, folate, potassium, and the antioxidant lycopene, earning it the nickname "The Power Orange."
PureSpec Orange is a high-sugar orange carefully selected from navel oranges with a sugar content of 12 Brix or higher. PureSpec is the name of the optical sensor sorter that checks sugar content, acidity, and flesh condition, and only oranges selected through this sorter are sold under the PureSpec name.
