KST Mobility and Hyundai Motor Launch Official Service of Community-Based Mobility 'Shuckle'
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] KST Mobility announced on the 9th that it will launch the full service of the community-type mobility service 'Shuckle,' developed in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company.
Starting service on this day in Eunpyeong New Town, Jingwan-dong, Seoul, 'Shuckle' is a large passenger van taxi operating without fixed routes, based on artificial intelligence (AI).
When users call a vehicle within a 2km radius service area, an 11-passenger large van (a modified Hyundai Solati vehicle) operates along an optimally generated real-time route, picking up and dropping off passengers at their desired locations.
The service operates with six vehicles from 6 a.m. to midnight without holidays, applying a monthly subscription fare system. It underwent a pilot operation in Eunpyeong New Town for about three months last year.
KST Mobility and Hyundai Motor Company received a demonstration exemption for the 'Demand-Responsive Community-Type Large Passenger Van Taxi' project under the 7th ICT Regulatory Sandbox by the Ministry of Science and ICT last year.
KST Mobility plans to expand Shuckle to up to 17 regions nationwide through consultations with the government. Discussions are underway with new towns and local governments where populations are dense but public transportation is insufficient, causing transportation inconvenience.
