Agreement to Continue Cooperation in Sharing Vaccine Experiences and Technology Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On the 8th, Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong held a phone call with Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the call, both ministers shared the view that the Korea-Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA) they agreed upon would serve as a stepping stone for advancing bilateral relations, and agreed to expand cooperation in various fields such as trade, technology, and health.
The two ministers also agreed to continue cooperation in response to COVID-19, including sharing vaccination experiences and vaccine technology development.
Minister Chung also highly praised the Israeli government's efforts, stating that the normalization of relations with the Arab world, including last year's Abraham Accords agreement, would contribute to peace and stability in the region. The Abraham Accords refer to the historic agreement brokered by the United States in September last year, in which Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain agreed to establish diplomatic relations.
