Government Bond Yields Rise Across the Board... Financial Holding Companies' Stocks Strengthen
3-Year Treasury Bond Yield Rises 7.3bp to 1.139% Annual Rate
KB Financial Shares Up 6.28% from Previous Day to 49,950 Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Government bond yields closed higher across the board.
On the 8th, in the domestic bond market, the 3-year government bond yield closed at an annual rate of 1.139%, up 7.3 basis points (1bp=0.01 percentage points) from the previous trading day.
The 10-year yield rose 3.6bp to 2.028% per annum. The 5-year and 1-year yields increased by 5.9bp and 0.8bp, closing at 1.497% and 0.687% per annum, respectively.
The 20-year yield rose 0.3bp to 2.118% per annum. The 30-year and 50-year yields increased by 0.4bp and 0.5bp, recording 2.124% and 2.124% per annum, respectively.
With expectations that market interest rates will rise due to the increase in government bond yields, financial holding companies' stocks showed strength on the day.
On the day, KB Financial closed at 49,950 KRW, up 6.28% from the previous trading day, on the KOSPI market. During the session, KB Financial also reached 50,400 KRW, setting a 52-week high.
BNK Financial Group closed at 6,590 KRW, up 5.27% from the previous closing price, and Meritz Financial Group ended at 13,100 KRW, up 4.80%.
