According to the city on the 8th, about 12,000 dead pine trees have occurred in the area since May last year, and about 8,000 have been controlled so far.
To remove the remaining 4,000 trees, the city recently secured an emergency national fund of 390 million won and plans to carry out control work in March.
Dead pine trees affected by pine wilt disease are generally distributed in rugged terrain and wide forest areas, making complete control difficult due to various habitats of the vector insect. However, the city plans to focus on creating healthy pine forests through precise monitoring, timely control, and continuous preventive activities.
