According to KBI Dongguk Industrial, the 'Universal Island' is the first moving console in Korea that breaks away from the limitations of the conventional internal combustion engine structure, allowing movement of 10 steps forward and backward, totaling 140mm, in the space between the driver's seat and the passenger seat. It offers various convenience features such as a 15W fast wireless charging system, USB charging jack, and high-capacity trays on the upper and lower levels, making it highly advantageous for freer and more convenient use in both the first and second rows of seats. Additionally, the driver can store a laptop or bag in the spacious lower compartment of the console, and when parking space is tight, sliding the console backward moves it toward the passenger seat, making it comfortable to exit.
Riding on the success of the 'Ioniq 5,' KBI Dongguk Industrial explained that it plans to supply parts to various electric vehicles, including Kia's first dedicated electric vehicle scheduled for release in July this year. Furthermore, with expectations of a 150% increase in initial order volume for electric vehicle consoles, the company added that there is growing anticipation for a turnaround to profitability through increased sales this year.
