Changwon City Expands 'Shared Parking Lot Project' to Solve Parking Shortage
Utilizing Vacant Land Without Plans for Over 2 Years as Parking Space
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it will expand the shared parking lot support project this year to alleviate parking difficulties.
Last year, the city expanded a total of 926 parking spaces across 54 locations through the shared parking lot project and opened the parking spaces free of charge.
The temporary vacant lot parking lot creation project utilizes vacant lots without plans for use for more than two years as parking spaces with the owner's approval.
Landowners participating in this project receive a 100% property tax exemption and subsidies of up to 5 million KRW.
Additionally, public institutions, religious facilities, and others that open their attached parking lots for more than two years receive administrative support within a limit of 20 million KRW for parking surface maintenance, CCTV installation, and facility improvements.
The city expects this to greatly contribute to budget savings, considering that the cost to create one parking space in urban residential areas is approximately 50 million KRW.
Landowners wishing to participate in the shared parking lot project can apply by March at the Economic and Transportation Division of the district office with jurisdiction over their location or at the Eup/Myeon/Dong Administrative Welfare Center.
